Micromax Canvas Turbo Mini A200 review – light weight 1.3GHz Quad Core

Micromax A200 also called the Micromax Canvas Turbo Mini is trimmed down version of the Micromax  Canvas Turbo A250 .

The Micromax A200 is powered by 1.3GHz quad core processor running Android 4.2 over a 4.69 inch screen.

The  handset looks pretty good and is extremely light weight at 110 grams. A200 Box pack Inside the box you will find the handset, travel charger, data cable, earphone, SIM tray ejector, download goodies, warranty card and A200 user manual. SAR value : 0.18 W/kg @ 1g (head) and 0.23 W/kg @1g (body).

On the box it’s mentioned that the handset can record HD (720p) videos, however it can record full HD videos. Design, Display and OS When I first saw the handset it was like WOW, the design looked good but as soon as you hold the handset the first thing that comes to your mind is ‘is this without the battery’.

Well the A200 comes with a non- removable battery. Micromax A200 weight with battery is 110 grams and dimensions are 68.39 x 137.27 x 8.38 mm. Power button, volume rockers are on the right, 3.5mm audio jack and micro USB port on the top and Micro SIM tray on the left side.

This  is a dual SIM handset the SIM 2 is placed on the left and to access the SIM 1 (normal SIM) and Micro SD card you need to open up the back cover (a small part – check video). Build quality is very good.

Micromax has not specifically mentioned if the handset is made of aluminum body but it does look like combination of plastic and aluminum. The IPS screen is 4.69 inches with 1280×720 pixels resolution. Viewing angles and color reproduction are good.

Touch is smooth but make sure to clean the screen with a soft cloth after removing the factory fitted film, as the adhesive residue makes the screen sticky. There are accelerometer, light, proximity and magnetic sensors. There is LED notification too (red when charging and yellow when you get notification).

The MMX A200 runs on Android 4.2 Memory and Storage There is 1GB RAM, 4GB storage and micro SD card slot. 0.98GB (884MB free) is assigned for apps and 1.61GB as phone storage. And of the 1GB RAM 687MB is available (free) on the first boot. OTG is supported and you can also save apps on the external storage.

Performance The hardware is well known its 1.3GHz MediaTek ARM cortex A7 quad core with Mali 400 GPU. Chipset is MT6582 that works pretty well, fast and lag free.

Benchmark scores

Quadrant Standard – 5859.
AnTuTu – 17177.
Vellamo – HTML5 1922,
Metal 501.
Nenamark 2 – 53.6 fps
Multi touch : 10 points.

Gaming and Entertainment:-  The MC4 and Asphalt games got installed on the external storage. Games are playable, MC4 does lag a bit at times and Asphalt 8 did well in medium visual quality mode. The hardware can play full HD videos.

Camera:-    There is 8MP rear AF camera with flash and it can record full HD videos at 30fps. The front camera is of 5MP resolution. Rear camera video and still shots are very good. Front camera is average. Do check the sample images and videos. The camera also comes with GIF animation and object remove feature. The camera will shoot series of images when you use the object remove feature, it will then give you an option to remove things you don’t want. It is a good option if you are in a crowed place and want to shoot a statue for example and don’t want to include the people moving around it. Others Sound is clear and loud. Key features are 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth. The GPS lock is very fast on this MT6582 chipset.

Battery:- There is built in non-removable battery of 1800 mAh capacity. I used the handset for about 43 minutes running benchmark apps and playing games the battery level dropped by 23%. I played the Asphalt game again for about 24 minutes the battery dropped by 19%. If you are playing heavy games or using heavy apps continuously you can expect usage time of about 2 to 3 hours. As seen above the battery drains very fast. For normal usage the battery performance is good.

Verdict The Micromax Canvas Turbo Mini A200 has got that premium look and is extremely light weight. Everything about this handset is good, expect for the battery that will hardly last for about 3 hours when all the cores are used – e.g. when playing games or using heavy applications. If your usage is less, not much into gaming or don’t mind charging the handset often then it is a good option.

The A200 with 1.3GHz on some online stores is available for Rs. 12,500 but on some it is available for approx Rs. 10,790/-

The older device came with 720p HD display and Snapdragon 600, the latest YotaPhone will come with 1080p 5-inch display and a 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 Quad - Core processor.

Currently Samsung Galaxy Golden is a popular dual screen smartphone, but comes with low resolution displays.

The latest YotaPhone sports an E-ink rear display with full touch capabilities. Although there is not much of the E-ink display right now but in the coming future with more apps compatible with the rear e-ink display will make it more useful to the end users.

Right now the rear E-ink display offers very nice viewing angles and that the sunlight readability is the best in this device.

Lets wait for the third generation of the this device and may be then things will in the right place for YotaPhone with more apps on this platform.

All the Nokia X android series of phones are powered by Dual-Core Snapdragon processor and runs a customized version of the popular Android Operating System.

It is worth noting that Nokia X and Nokia X+ do not have major differences, Nokia X is an entry level phone while Nokia X+ is a mid-ranger and has slightly larger RAM .

Both Nokia X and X+ would have a 4-inch WVGA display while the Nokia XL will have a taller body and will feature a 5-inch display (resolution not know yet).

The Nokia XL will have a 5MP rear camera and a 2MP front facing camera for photography and video calling needs.

All the Nokia X series of phone will not have Google Playstore on board, however for applications user can rely on the Nokia’s Android Store (AoL) and other third party app stores.

These devices from Nokia are more like the Kindlefires from Amazon which are also not Google certified.

It is worth waiting and looking at the kind of response Nokia gets for its Android phone.

Google Android 4.4 KitKat Features– have a Look!

Google started its Android journey with
version 1.5 and subsequently evolved it,  the
latest version being the Android 4.1 through
4.3 also called the Jelly bean OS . And now
Google will release the Android 4.4 version,
pretty soon.

Rumors about the next Android OS were in
the news for quite some time, it was also
presumed that the 4.4 version would be
called the Android Key Lime Pie, but it
seems Google has given all the rumors a
break and called it, KitKat.
Google has created a page that confirms the
next ‘Android KitKat’ version. The page also
shows a brief history of all the versions that
have been created. If the word KitKat
reminds you of the Nestle’s KitKat chocolate
bar, well you are right, in fact Google has
partnered with Nestle and preferred calling
their next released as KitKat.

According to Marc Vanlerberghe (Director
Android Marketing), the tasty chocolate has
been their favorite ever since the Android
was created and they couldn’t imagine a
better name. There is no word as to when
this android version will be released. Users
will also get an opportunity to take part in a
competition and win prizes – 1000 Nexus 7
tablets to be won and 50 million Android
robot shaped KitKat bars.

Features Of Android Kitkat:

*   Vanishing status bar: The status bar is
now translucent and, along with the
navigation buttons, it will melt away to
give your content maximum screen
space. Swipe the edge of the screen to
bring it all back.

*     Phone app updates: The new
phone app bumps your favorite contacts to the top, and features new search capabilities so you can

*    Find a person or business and call directly from the app:

You’ll also find smarter caller ID that can
potentially identify callers, even if they
aren’t a listed contact.

*     More Google Now: It’s easier than ever
before to use Google Now. Swipe left to
right from the home screen, or say “OK
Google” and it will begin listening, eager
to deliver your directions, or send a text.
It can also lead you directly into apps
now, not just websites.

*    Hangouts adds SMS: Hangouts is now
your one-stop message shop, like a
combination of FaceTime and iMessage.

*   Emojis: Emoji characters are available in
the Google Keyboard. You have the
option of setting a different default
texting app if you don’t like Hangouts.

*    Works on older phones: Optimized.memory means faster multitasking and a
more responsive touchscreen. This
should make general skipping around on
your phone faster than ever, but also
means that older phones with as little as
512MB of RAM can now run Android
smoothly … if they ever get the update
to 4.4.

*    Chromecast: Chromecast support allows
you to project movies and music to your
big screen (if you have Chromecast ) and
when your device is locked it will now
display full screen related album and
movie art.

*     You can print files directly from your Android device to supported printers.

*   The new Quickoffice app
lets you create and edit
documents, including
spreadsheets and presentations.
You can open and
save files from Quickoffice on
Google Drive,.other cloud
services, or locally on the device.

There’s also a recently used files menu
that makes it super easy to share
whatever you were working on by email,
or just find it again in a hurry.

  HDR+ photography support.

*    Infrared blasting for remote control
functionality (for device with IR blasters).

*   Android Device Manager can find and
wipe your device if you lose it.

*    Close captioning and subtitles now
supported for video.

*   Bluetooth MAP support for Bluetooth-
enabled cars.

*    Open architecture for NFC to encourage
more mobile payments.

*   A built-in pedometer feature.

Dual SIM Moto G Android 4.4.2 KitKat Update Released

Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for Moto G dual
SIM handset in India came much faster
than anticipated.
The update is now
available via OTA (Over the Air). File size is
230MB and it takes about 5 to 7 minutes to
update after the file is downloaded.

Before you update make sure to keep the
battery level over 60%, better still if it’s over
75%.

Here is a brief Moto G review after the
KitKat update

The data / apps that you have installed
are retained, nothing is lost.

The user interface is the same you will
hardly notice any difference before
and after the update.

OTG is supported and you get a
notification too. And when you use a
file manager app you do get the
USBDISK option. With Android 4.3 we
never got the notification and one had
to navigate into multiple folders to
access the pendrive content. Well on
KitKat OTG works out of the box.

You
can copy data from Phone onto the
Pendrive using OTG.

Camera interface is the same, nothing
new. Camera quality seems a little
better. The HDR if set in auto mode
(camera will shoot in HDR when
applicable) improves the picture
quality.

I have not used the handset much
after the KitKat update, but battery
backup looks good almost as on Jelly
Bean 4.3.

Performance is near about the same
as experienced with Android 4.3.

GPS lock is fast as it was before
(almost instant and works indoors too).

Internal storage is 5.52GB and of the
1GB RAM available free RAM is 429MB
free.

As for gaming all the games that played on
the 4.3 will work on the 4.4 version too. If
you have noticed the FPS is a little better on
with KitKat 4.4.2 Strange that Vellamo
HTML5 is lower but other benchmarks are
close enough.

Go ahead and get the update done. It also
makes sense as future Motorola updates/
fixes will be on the Android 4.4.

OTG works
and your data / apps are retained (but it
would be better to take a backup just in
case). Camera quality seems to have
improved.

Man Stuffing Steak And Lobster Down Pants At Safeway Is Hilarious Again: Amber Alert Is Off

safewayGood news if you like to laugh at people stuffing frozen meat and seafood down their pants! It turns out that the suspect in Tuesday’s steak-and-lobster-down-pants incident may not have carjacked and kidnapped an older man and a teenage girl. That’s what witnesses thought they saw, prompting an Amber Alert on the vehicle, but no one has reported anyone matching that description missing. [San Francisco Chronicle]

Lawyer Brings Back Free Divorce Contest For Yet Another Valentine’s Day

If there’s one day that’s even more painful than all the rest when you’re in a bad relationship, it’s Valentine’s Day. Everyone around you is smooching under flowery bowers of love with little birds chirping and singing and you’re arguing under a freeway underpass about who bought toilet paper last and besides, it was the wrong kind of toilet paper and I don’t love you anymore. Here’s where a free divorce might be nice.

For the second year in a row, a Detroit divorce lawyer is holding a contest to decide who out there deserves a free divorce for Valentine’s Day, he explains to ClickOnDetroit.com. Last year the contest did well, he explains, with more than 1,000 people applying, 400 of which weren’t even Detroit residents (which is a requirement for the contest).

“People want to move on,” he says of unfortunate souls stuck in bad situations. “I’m trying to help them have a very happy Valentine’s Day for 2015 by taking care of their past and putting an end to that in 2014.”

The main reason behind this act of goodwill — besides the inevitable publicity bonanza — is that some people just can’t afford to cut their ties.

“I’m hearing stories about people that don’t have the money to get divorced,” he explains, as all contestants have to write up the reasons they deserve the divorce. “Some of them don’t even have the money to move out so they’re living with the person that they can’t stand.”

Oh but why, why spoil the day filled with heart candies and flowers and lovey dovey cuddle bunnies (no I don’t understand Valentine’s Day, yes I’m an old bitter lady)? Why does it have to be this day of all days?

“Because Valentines’ Day is a tough day for people that are in a relationship that they don’t want to be in,” he says. It’s not easy though, as he says he thought he’d heard everything before, but some of the things people said last year, “they were truly heartbreaking.”

For those interested in the Detroit area, all it takes is filling out a simple form on his website.

Update: Faux Burger King Resurrected As Actual Burger King

This is how the BK sign looked hours after local media began inquiring about the restaurant's authenticity.

This is how the BK sign looked hours after local media began inquiring about the restaurant’s authenticity.

A quick update to last week’s story about the Pittsburgh fast food joint with the Burger King sign, Burger King menu, Burger King uniforms, but not Burger King food. It is apparently set to rise from the ashes and be reborn as… an honest-to-goodness BK.

The restaurant had stood as a legitimate Burger King for quite some time, with a number of Consumerist readers telling us they had popped into this location for the occasional Whopper over the years.

Then a couple weeks back, customers started noticing that the food wasn’t quite what it was supposed to be. To-go orders came in plain brown paper bags; fries in unbranded paper cups; sodas in white polystyrene cups. Either Burger King was trying to rebrand itself by going all-generic or something fishy was up.

A curious news team from WPXI-TV was first shooed off the property when they tried to get to the bottom of the story, but were then told by a manager that the restaurant was “in transition” to becoming an independent fast food operation, in spite of the fact that everything still read “Burger King” to customers.

Within a few hours, the outdoor sign was removed and the city’s health officials said the business would be at least temporarily shut down while it looked into the name-change matter.

Then yesterday, a Pittsburgh-area BK franchisee announced that his company, which runs nearly 60 Burger Kings in the region, had taken ownership of this location, returning a proper BK to the people of Pittsburgh’s South Side.

“We have cleaned the restaurant from top to bottom,” said the new owner, who also declared that the eatery would go through a redesign in the months to come.

Top 10 Reasons To Root Your Android Phone or Tablet

Android is one of the most open, versatile,
and customizable mobile operating systems
out there.

You may think you don't need
to root your phone, but you'd be surprised
at how much more you can accomplish
with a little work .

Here are 10 reasons
rooting your phone is worth the hassle.

10. Unlock Hidden Features
and Install "Incompatible"
Apps

Sometimes, even Android isn't open
enough to give you some of the features
you want. Either an app is blocked by
carriers, hacks into Android's system files,
or otherwise isn't available. Luckily,
rooting can help with that: you can install
carrier-blocked apps, get features from the
latest version of Android, make
incompatible apps compatible , power up
your hardware , get features like Beats
Audio from other phones, or emulate
exclusive features like those on the Moto
X .

Whatever you want, rooting gives you
the power to do a lot more.

9. Automate Everything

You've probably heard of Tasker, the
awesome app that automates just about
anything on your phone . You don't need to
root your phone to use it, but if you're
rooted, it can do a whole lot more. Certain
tasks, like toggling 3G, GPS, changing CPU
speed, turning the screen on, and others
require root access. So, if you want to get
the full benefit of an app like Tasker,
you'll definitely want to root your phone.

For more automation inspiration, check
out your best Tasker actions , as well as our
most recently featured Tasker tricks.

8. Boost Your Phone's Speed
and Battery Life

You can do a lot of things to speed up your
phone and boost its battery life without
rooting, but with root—as always—you
have even more power. For example, with
an app like SetCPU you can overclock your
phone for better performance, or
underclock it for better battery life. You
can also use an app like Greenify to
automatically hibernate apps you aren't
using—perfect for those apps that always
want to run in the background when
you're not looking .

7. Block Ads in Any App

Look, we of all people understand the
need for occasional ads—it's how we make
money. But ads can also get in the way
and use up data. If you want to block ads
in certain apps or on certain devices,

rooting is by far the best way to do so .

AdFree , AdBlock Plus, and Ad Away are all
great options. Of course, if you aren't
rooted, going into airplane mode works in
a pinch too.

6. Back Up Your Phone for
Seamless Transitions

When you move to a new Android device
—or restore your device to stock for any
reason—you can make your life a lot easier
by backing up your apps and settings first.

That way, you can get your entire setup
back in just a few taps . If you aren't
rooted, you can back up a few things like
apps and data, but you won't necessarily
be able to backup system apps and their
data, or automate the entire process as
well as Titanium Backup can.

5. Remove Preinstalled
Boaltware

Titanium Backup is good for more than
just backups, too. It can also uninstall that
annoying, battery-draining, space-wasting
crapware that comes preinstalled on so
many phones these days—and, sadly, this
feature is root-only . Freeze them first to
make sure your phone operates normally
without them, then delete them completely
to free up that space.

4. Tweak the Dark Corners
of Android

If you're the kind of person that likes to
fiddle with every little feature—both on
the surface and under the hood—rooting
is for you. Whether you want to customize
your keyboard layout with something like
Keyboard Manager or give yourself faster
scrolling, improved multitasking, and extra
themes with Pimp My ROM , rooting gives
you the power to tweak just about any
corner you can think of. If you want to do
it, chances are someone over on a forum
like XDA has created a mini-app or tweak
that will help.

3. Flash a Custom Kernel

Some of Android's most under-the-hood
tweaks require a custom kernel, which you
can only flash with a rooted device.

The
kernel is responsible for helping your apps
communicate with the hardware of your
phone, which means a custom kernel can
give you better performance, battery life,
and even extra features like Wi-Fi
tethering (on unsupported phones), faster
battery charging, and lots more .

You can
flash kernels manually or simplify the
process with something like Kernel
Manager .

2. Flash a Custom ROM

Okay, so you probably already know about
this one—but it's one of the best benefits
of rooting. A custom ROM is basically a
custom version of Android, and it truly
changes how you use your phone . Some
merely bring a stock version of Android to
non-stock phones, or later versions of
Android to phones that don't have it yet.

Some add a few handy features , some add
lots of really unique features , and some
change your operating system from head
to toe . No matter what phone you have—
even if it's a Nexus—we highly
recommend checking out the custom ROMs
out there.

You won't be disappointed.

Note:   As some of you have noted, you don't
actually need root access to flash a custom
ROM—though you will need to unlock your
bootloader (a process that sometimes comes
bundled with root access). Still, it requires
freeing your device from manufacturer
lockdowns, so we've kept it in the list
despite this technicality!

1. Truly Own Your Device

In the end, all of this boils down to one
thing: you own your device, and you
should be able to do with it as you please.

Certain manufacturers and carriers try to
keep that from happening, but with root
access, you truly own your device and
open yourself up to all the possibilities
other parties try to block. Sure, there's
some risk involved , and we don't usually
recommend rooting other people's phones ,
but in the end, you can't put a price on
true openness and control.

What is Rooting?

Now a day's everybody has android phones and tablets. And everybody searching about Android and Android App, They can find the articles about root, and most of those peoples doesn't know what is Rooting?

This is for who doesn't know wtat is Rooting and want to know about Root.

What is "Rooting?"

The Android phone that you have learned to
love and enjoy is running an operating system
that was designed for commercial and private
use. Like most any operating system, several
features have been disabled, either for future
use or to prevent the casual user from causing
permanent damage to the operating system.

"Rooting" is the process in which the limitations
are removed and full-access is allowed.

Once
rooted, the Android phone owner will have more
control over many settings, features and
performance of their phone. Basically, "rooting"
means to get to the root of the operating
system and to have the ability to make global
changes.

Description

Rooting lets all user-installed applications run
privileged commands typically unavailable to
the devices in the stock configuration.

Rooting
is required for more advanced and potentially
dangerous operations including modifying or
deleting system files, removing carrier- or
manufacturer-installed applications , and low-
level access to the hardware itself (rebooting,
controlling status lights, or recalibrating touch
inputs.)

A typical rooting installation also
installs the Superuser application, which
supervises applications that are granted root
or superuser rights. A secondary operation,
unlocking the device's bootloader verification,
is required to remove or replace the installed
operating system. In contrast to iOS
jailbreaking , rooting is not needed to run
applications distributed outside of the Google
Play Store, sometimes called sideloading .

The
Android OS supports this feature natively in
two ways: through the "Unknown sources"
option in the Settings menu and through the
Android Debug Bridge . However some
carriers , like AT&T , prevent the installation of
applications not on the Store in firmware ,
although several devices (including the
Samsung Infuse 4G are not subject to this
rule,  and AT&T has since lifted the
restriction on several older devices.

As of
2012 the Amazon Kindle Fire defaults to the
Amazon Appstore instead of Google Play ,
though like most other Android devices,

Kindle Fire allows sideloading of applications
from unknown sources,and the "easy
installer" application on the Amazon Appstore
makes this easy.

Other vendors of Android
devices may look to other sources in the
future.

Access to alternate apps may require
rooting but rooting is not always necessary.

Rooting an Android phone lets the owner
modify or delete the system files, which in
turn lets them perform various tweaks and
use apps that require root access.
